The Yobotics Simulation Construction Set is a full-featured software package for easily and quickly creating simulations of robots, biomechanical systems, and mechanical devices. With it you can:

  • Accurately and quickly (Order N) simulate rigid body physics.
  • Access all joint positions, velocities, and torques.
  • Define ground contour and ground contact models.
  • Plot real-time graphs of any variable.
  • Playback and Rewind your simulations.
  • Record and save data.
  • Easily generate 3D graphics with texture mapping and camera controls.
  • Modify parameters as your simulation is running.
  • Expand your simulations using the Java based Application Programmers Interface (API).
  • Output JPG images and Quicktime Movies with the click of a button.
  • Get Technical Support from both simulation and robot control experts at Yobotics.
The Simulation Construction Set is easy to use, yet powerful for creating complex simulations of robotic devices.  Simulations of multi-joint devices can be created in a matter of minutes.  Arbitrary control can be added to these devices as each degree of freedom automatically has a simulated actuator associated with it.  For power users, the simulations are easily extensible, as they are implemented in 100% Java, with a well-documented Application Programmers Interface (API).

With the Simulation Construction Set, you can be on your way to simulating complex robotic systems without going through the tedius and error prone process of manually calculating equations of motion.  You’ll get immediate instantaneous feedback through both cartoon animations of your simulation, and through plots of any simulation variable.  You’ll have the power to quickly tweak your robot designs and control systems by the easy modification of your simulations.  Whatever your robotic simulation needs, the Yobotics! Simulation Construction Set will enable you to more quickly and accurately simulate your robot, allowing you to concentrate on the more important aspect of design and control.

The Simulation Construction Set is now available for sale. Click below for pricing and download options.

Screen Shots:

Below is a screen shot of a typical simulation, in this case Spring Flamingo, a bipedal walking robot. All of the simulation variables and control parameters are listed on the left and can be graphed by dragging them into a graph window. Parameters can be varied by placing them in a numeric entry box at the bottom of the screen. A toolbar is in the middle of the screen for simulation, playback, slow motion, zooming in and out on the graphs, importing and exporting data files, creating jpeg screen images, and creating mpeg movies.

Example Simulations:

Below are jpeg snapshots of 5 example simulations. Click on the links to see videos of the simulations. Both the jpegs and the videos were easily created using the Simulation Construction Set.

Agile Hexapod Simulation Hexapod with 18 degrees of freedom walking over rough terrain while balancing a pendulum. Complex dynamical systems like this are easily modeled using the Simulation Construction Set.  Video of Agile Hexapod simulation (1MB Quicktime)

Falling Brick Simulation Notice the texture mapped, rolling terrain. Both texture mapping and rolling terrain are easily implemented with the Simulation Construction Set. Video of falling brick simulation (1MB Quicktime)

Stewart Platform Simulation. A Stewart Platform (sometimes called a "hexapod"), has  six linear actuators connected from the base to the platform. Video of Stewart Platform Simulation (1.6MB Quicktime)

Trebuchet Simulation. A trebuchet is a medieval siege warfare device which hurls stones hundreds of meters. Video of Trebuchet Simulation (790KB Quicktime)

Spring Flamingo Simulation. Spring Flamingo is a planar bipedal walking robot. The Simulation Construction Set drastically decreases the time required for developing and testing robot control algorithms. Video of Spring Flamingo Simulation (839KB Quicktime)

Mobile Simulation With 21 gimbal joints, this simulation has 36 degrees of freedom total, yet it is easily implemented with the Simulation Construction Set.  Video of mobile simulation (5MB Quicktime)
